Laura Battey Marshall
Laura Battey Marshall grew up in a small New England town surrounded by nature. There was freedom to roam the woods for hours; a dinner bell at dusk to call her home again. As she grew, Laura thrived when creating sculptures and painting. After college, she spent 10 years inspired by the beauty of the island of Kaua’i, where she first began painting landscapes in oil. When she moved to the artistic community in Laguna Beach, California her work evolved to include other mediums and subjects. Laura now divides her time between hiking in the woods of North Carolina and the beautiful, sunny days in Saint Petersburg, Florida. She opened Mixed Marshall Art studio in The Orange Building at Five Deuces Galleria in 2017. During this time her fascination with adding and stripping layer after layer of texture developed and her color palette gravitated towards copper, bronze, patina, blues and rusty tones. Laura’s love of nature, her fervor to evoke respect for the environment and her captivation with the passage of time are the central elements in her latest work.
